The book “Tequila, the Only Art That you Can Drink” by journalist Iván Sergio was presented.
Mendo Gutiérrez highlights the path that the tequila agroindustry has taken in the last three decades. Also from April 16 to 28, at the PALCCO MET, the exhibition of Tequila bottles and the exhibition of works of art where you can find pieces from eight different artists such as Celeste Ramírez, Gabriela Sánchez, Artemisa Ramírez, Ben Olivares, Camilo Ramírez, Carlos Tomás, Carlos Terrés, and Rodo Padilla. Zapopan, Jalisco on April 15, 2024.- In the Palace of Culture and Congresses (PALCCO), began the celebrations for the 50 years of the Declaration of the Appellation of Origin Tequila (AOT) and the 30th Anniversary of The Tequila Regulatory Council, A.C. (CRT) with the presentation of the book “Tequila, the only art that you can drink”, the inauguration of the Tequila bottle exhibition and the exhibition of DOT-inspired artwork.
“To commemorate both dates, the CRT decided to celebrate with various activities, involving all those who have contributed to making Tequila, our first Mexican Appellation of Origin, a source of pride and a symbol of Mexico worldwide,” said Miguel Ángel Domínguez Morales, President of the CRT.
Juan Enrique Ibarra Pedroza, Secretary-General of the Government; Miguel Ángel Domínguez Morales, President of the Tequila Regulatory Council; José Roberto Ciprés Cruces, President of the National Chamber of the Tequila Industry (CNIT); Rodolfo González González, President of the Organizing Committee for the 30th Anniversary Celebrations of the CRT and the 50th Anniversary of the AOT; and representatives from various sectors of the Agave Tequila Productive Chain were in attendance.
They present the book “Tequila, the Only Art That You Can Drink” PALCCO’s Bar Escenik was the setting for the presentation of this book, written by journalist Iván Sergio Mendo Gutiérrez, this work also has special participation of the Secretary Government General, Juan Enrique Ibarra Pedroza, author of the prologue, who upon taking the floor, highlighting historical moments that have marked the greatness of Tequila and the work that the agribusiness has done in the last three decades carried out by the CRT.
“For Jalisco, the promotion of the Tequila industry is probably the best example of successful cooperation between government institutions, industrialists, and the producers of raw material, such as agave, to consolidate at the level internationally a product made in our lands. Without a doubt, the element of the cohesive entity of this cooperation is the Tequila Regulatory Council, as it has allowed dialogue between all parties involved,” highlighted Juan Enrique Ibarra Pedroza, General Secretary of the Government.
For his part, the author of the book Iván Sergio Mendo Gutiérrez, pointed out how his experience when entering the tequila agroindustry, collecting testimonies to be able to capture them in his work “This opportunity to talk about such a drink emblematic of tequileros, of people who welcomed me with such kindness, dedicated their time, enthusiasm, their experiences, the producers, the marketers, and the advisors – it’s a world of experiences.”
The book “Tequila, the Only Art That You Can Drink”, is written in English and Spanish, and can be found in its digital and physical versions.
Bottle display and artwork exhibition
The exhibition was inaugurated at the PALCCO Museum of Temporary Exhibitions of more than 2 thousand bottles of Tequila and the exhibition of works of art inspired by the AOT.
During his speech, the president of the CRT, Lic. Miguel Ángel Domínguez Morales, highlighted the importance of knowing more about Tequila through the different expressions “Every bottle on display, every work of art on display, reminds us of the wealth of our land; to our agave farmers who, with hard work and commitment, they provide us with the noble and admirable agaves; to our tequileros, whose skill and passion for their craft are reflected in every bottle they produce; and to our artists, whose creativity and talent have brought these works to life, which we now have the privilege to admire.”
The exhibition features works by plastic artist Celeste Ramírez, jewelry designers Gabriela Sánchez and Artemisa Ramírez, photographers Ben Olivares and Carlos Tomás, sculptor, painter, and urban designer Camilo Ramírez, sculptors Carlos Terrés and Rodo Padilla.
Tequila Bottle Exhibition and Artwork Exhibition will be open to the public, free of charge, from April 16 to 28 from 2024 – 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
