Seminar, Expo and Tastings of Products with Designation of Origin and Geographical Indication inaugurated, to celebrate Tequila.

The International Seminar “Advances in Geographical Indications, Latest Trends, and Global Challenges” aims to promote the economic and cultural value of Geographical Indications (GIs) and Appellations of Origin (AO), by enhacing their legal protection and international recognition.

At the Exhibition and Tastings of Designation of Origin and Geographical Indication Products, you can find booths featuring Colombian Coffee, Bacanora, Charanda, Mezcal, Lacas de Olinalá, Rioja Wines, Habanero Chiles, Raicilla, Sotol, Scotch Whisky, Sherry Wine, Champagne, Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese, and more..

 

Zapopan, Jalisco, April 25, 2024.- Guadalajara became the World Capital of Appellations of Origin, to celebrate the 50 years of the Appellation of Tequila (AOT) and the 30th Anniversary of the Tequila Regulatory Council A.C. (CRT).

Representatives of products from various regions of Mexico and the world gathered at the Guadalajara Chamber of Commerce for the inauguration of the International Seminar, Expo, and Tastings of these distinctive products.

The International Seminar “Advances in Geographical Indications, Latest Trends, and Global Challenges aims to promote the economic and cultural value of Geographical Indications (GIs) and Appellations of Origin (AO), by enhancing their legal protection and international recognition. Over two days, various topics will be discussed, including:

  • The importance of protecting GIs and AOs in the new regulatory framework of the European Union
  • The sustainability of products with this distinction
  • The importance of Conformity Assessment

The seminar features international speakers such as:

  • Riccardo Deserti, President of the Organization for an International Network of Geographical Indications (oriGIn) and General Director of Parmigiano Reggiano, who delivered the keynote address.
  • Representatives from Cognac, Champagne, Prosecco, Colombian Coffee, Rioja Wines, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the African Intellectual Property Office, and more.

The Exhibition and Tastings feature booths showcasing Colombian Coffee, Bacanora, Charanda, Mezcal, Lacas de Olinalá, Rioja Wines, Habanero Chiles, Raicilla, Sotol, Scotch Whisky, Sherry Wine, Champagne, Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese, and more. Tastings of Tequila, Sotol, Charanda, Colombian Coffee, Sherry, Beer, and others are also being held.

The Seminar, Expo, and Tastings are free of charge and take place this Thursday, April 25, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Friday, April 26, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the Guadalajara Chamber of Commerce.
