Zapopan, Jalisco, December 4, 2024.- The Governor of the State of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez and the president of the Tequila Regulatory Council A.C. (CRT) Miguel Ángel Domínguez Morales, representing agave producers, Tequila producers, bottlers and marketers, inaugurated “Tequila Lab”, an innovative space promoted by the Government of Jalisco in collaboration with the CRT, Coinvierte, the Ministry of Tourism and Museums, Exhibitions and Galleries of Jalisco of the Ministry of Culture.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP) undertook the construction of this project. Governor Alfaro emphasized that these spaces will serve as symbols of Jalisco’s identity and expressed his pride in the collaborative efforts with the Agave-Tequila Chain. “Tequila Lab” is a strategic and avant-garde center that invites Mexico and the world to learn about the essence and legacy of Tequila, as well as to explore its promising future. Conceived as the home of all the sectors that make up the tequila agroindustry, this space seeks to strengthen Tequila, promote its sustainability and ensure its international significance.
During the opening ceremony, the Tequila Regulatory Council presented its highest honor, the “Eagle in Flight” award, to Chief of Staff Hugo Manuel Luna Vázquez in recognition of his invaluable support for the development of “Tequila Lab. Miguel Ángel Domínguez Morales, President of the Tequila Regulatory Council, stated that this project will stand as a testament to Governor Alfaro’s accomplishments. He emphasized the Governor’s unwavering support for the agribusiness sector, including the crucial designation of the tequila agroindustry as an essential activity during the pandemic and the successful consolidation of the Environmental Responsible Agave (ARA ) Certification. “Today, a dream has become a reality for all of us at the Tequila Regulatory Council. We now have an innovative space to showcase Tequila, Mexico’s first Appellation of Origin, as a symbol of history, pride, and tradition. What better gift could we offer the people of Jalisco? Tequila embodies the essence of Mexico, and Jalisco is the heart of Tequila. ‘Tequila Lab’ is an experience that truly tastes like Mexico,” stated Miguel Ángel Domínguez.
Likewise, the commemorative “Tequila Lab” bottle was presented, a special edition made thanks to the participation of 61 tequila companies. This first bottle was delivered by the president of the CRT, Miguel Ángel Domínguez Morales, to the Governor of the State of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, in a box from Olinalá, another of the Appellation of Origin of Mexico, with which two distinctive products were merged. of our country.
Governor-Elect Pablo Lemus, officials from all levels of government, special guests, and members of the Agave-Tequila Productive Chain attended the opening ceremony. The event culminated in the “Agave Forest,” where over 40 tequila companies showcased their products to special guests and members of the Agave-Tequila Productive Chain.

1.The territory of Tequila: An audiovisual projection that shows the geological history of the tequila region, highlighting the minerals and water resources essential for the growth of the Blue Agave.
- Taxonomy of the Blue Agave: Through holograms, visitors will be able to learn about the biological and taxonomic characteristics of the Agave Tequilana Weber blue variety, the raw material for Tequila.
- Tequila Processes: Exhibition of popular art that illustrates traditional and agro-industrial processes, from harvesting to distillation.
- Tequila Classes: An olfactory laboratory where visitors will discover the subtleties of Tequila maturation and its sensory characteristics.
- Agave Landscape: Audiovisual experience about the Agave Landscape, declared World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
