2025 begins with an increase in Tequila exports

* One of the objectives of the tequila agroindustry for this year is the conquest of new markets, an example is the return of China to the list of the 10 Tequila importing countries and the permanence of Colombia in the top ten.

*The TRC’s work on conformity assessment has earned the trust of consumers by consolidating Tequila as one of the alcoholic beverages with the most reliable and robust regulatory framework worldwide.

Zapopan, Jalisco, February 5, 2025.- 2025 has begun with a 29.3 percent increase in Tequila exports, compared to the same period of the previous year, according to statistics from the Tequila Regulatory Council A.C. (TRC), last January 37.1 million liters of Mexico’s national drink par excellence were shipped to the world, a reflection of the conformity assessment, which over the years has generated consumer confidence in Mexico and the world, this work carried out by the TRC has consolidated Tequila as one of the alcoholic beverages with the most reliable and robust regulatory scheme worldwide.

“In the first month of the year we see how the United States continues to be the first place in the top ten of Tequila importing countries, but we also find within this list countries from the Asian continent such as China and Japan, from South America such as Colombia, without forgetting Germany and Spain from Europe, this tells us how Tequila producers have their sights set on conquering new markets” highlighted the director of the Tequila Regulatory Council, Ramón González Figueroa.

86 percent of the Tequila exported during January was sent to the United States, while China returned to occupy one of the top 10 places of Tequila importing countries and countries such as Colombia remain in the top ten.

73 percent of the Tequila exported during January 2025 corresponded to the 100% Agave Tequila category while 27 percent to the Tequila category.

Opening new markets is a priority this year for the tequila agroindustry, and currently tequila is present in more than 120 countries. As a conformity assessment body, the Tequila Regulatory Council will continue to work for and on behalf of tequila.
